We had to go through a long tunnel completely in the dark but the pay
off was we saw lots of glow worms in the roof.

thermal wonderland - you just have to do it - very impressive if you
dont mind the H2S fumes. Quite like old chemistry days.


These stilts didn't seem to mind the hot water or the fumes - can you
see the little chicks?

Mum striding out on the way up Rainbow mountain - so called because of
all the different coloured rock. There were fumeroles all over the
place so you had to keep to the path!!

You had to fight your way through the bush to get to the top. It was
quite steep being volcanic.

A really good day out - we got back in 6hr20min and had a lovely
birthday dinner at the Italian Restaurant in Turangi.

couple of pics from Wellington - The beehive parliament building and
old St Pauls a wonderful old style wooden church that used to be the
Wellington Cathedral until very recently when a new concrete horror was
built.
